Nestled in scenic Loudoun County with its pre-Civil War architecture, Aldie, Virginia, is a community proud of its legacy. With more than 200 years of heritage, the village was built around the Aldie Mill, which produced corn and wheat in the 1800s. If it’s a bargain you’re after, visit Aldie Peddler, a shop that sells vintage furniture and antique treasures. The store’s owner also organizes regular wine tasting events.

Only about five miles away via US-50, you’ll definitely want to take the short trip to Middleburg, whose claim to fame is its booming historical district and the Red Fox Inn & Tavern; it’s the oldest inn still in operation in the United States with its gabled roof and wine-colored door.
